Book Cove™

Literacy & STEM Discovery

A Signature Initiative of Caribbean With Purpose

A place to read.

A place to explore.

A place to create.

A place to discover.

Creating sustainable learning environments where students in Grades 1–3 have continued access to books, literacy resources, STEM materials, appropriate technology, and opportunities for discovery.

Book Cove™

More than a library.

Book Cove™ is a dedicated Literacy & STEM Discovery environment created within a Caribbean With Purpose partner school.

Designed primarily for students in Grades 1–3, each Book Cove brings together literacy resources, STEM materials, hands-on learning, and technology where appropriate in an inviting space where children can read, explore, create, and discover.

It is an educational environment designed to help transform curiosity into learning.

Book Cove™ supports:

  • Reading Confidence
  • Vocabulary
  • Comprehension
  • Curiosity
  • Creativity
  • Problem-Solving
  • STEM Exploration
  • Independent Learning

The goal is not simply to create a beautiful room.

The goal is to create a useful educational resource.

What students can discover

Four dimensions of a Book Cove™.

  1. Books & Literacy Resources

Age-appropriate books and resources that support reading engagement, vocabulary, comprehension, imagination, and independent exploration.

  2. STEM Discovery

Hands-on materials that encourage students to question, investigate, experiment, solve problems, and create through age-appropriate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics experiences.

  3. Technology for Learning

Where appropriate and sustainable, educational technology can expand access to literacy and STEM resources.

Technology is a tool within Book Cove™. It is not the purpose of Book Cove™.

  4. Creative Learning Space

An inviting, functional, child-centered environment where students can read, think, ask questions, collaborate, explore, and create.

Designed with the school.

Not simply for the school.

Sustainable educational investment begins with listening.

Each Book Cove™ is developed with participating school leadership and educators based on student needs, available space, educational priorities, existing resources, and long-term use.

  • Student needs
  • Available space
  • Educational priorities
  • Existing resources
  • Long-term use

Local educators understand their students and school environment.

Book Cove™ provides additional literacy and STEM resources they can use to extend learning—it does not replace classroom instruction.

They lead.

We listen.

Together, we create.

Read Around the Isle™ AND Book Cove™

The experience and the environment.

Read Around the Isle™

Creates the educational experience.

Books • Reading Engagement • Comprehension • Conversation • STEM Activities • Discovery

Book Cove™

Creates the sustainable learning environment.

Books • Literacy Resources • STEM Materials • Appropriate Technology • Learning Space

Continued opportunity to learn.

Read Around the Isle™ can spark curiosity. Book Cove™ gives that curiosity a place to continue growing.

The program experience ends.
The opportunity for discovery continues.

Sustainability matters

Creating the space is only the beginning.

Book Cove™ is designed to continue serving students and educators after installation.

Sustainability is not an afterthought.
It is part of the design.

Long-term planning may include:

  • Resource replenishment
  • Maintenance
  • Educator feedback
  • Continued school partnership
  • Appropriate technology support
  • Future enhancements

Future enhancements are shaped by school needs, not assumed in advance.

Support Book Cove™

Invest in the environment where learning happens.

Corporations, foundations, educational institutions, community organizations, employee groups, and individual donors can help support:

  • Books & Literacy Resources
  • STEM Materials
  • Educational Technology
  • Learning Environments
  • Resource Replenishment
  • Program Sustainability

A partner does not have to fund an entire Book Cove™.

Every contribution can become part of an educational resource designed to serve students again and again.

One Book Cove™. Many possibilities.

A child may find a book, discover science, build something, ask a question, or find a quiet place to read.

Each experience creates another opportunity to learn, explore, and imagine what is possible.

  • A place to read.

  • A place to question.

  • A place to create.

  • A place to discover.
